The first step toward getting the career you want isn’t finding a job—it’s getting a plan. Learn how to turn your strengths, interests, and passions into careers you love. And if a life event happens that requires you to change careers, you’ll have the skills to repeat this process whenever you need it.
Class Elements: This course is composed of the 4 sessions outlined below.
Session 1: Find Your Calling – Struggling to pick a major? Not sure how to pursue a career? In this workshop you’ll explore your passions and aspirations, take account of your strengths and weaknesses, then define what barriers are holding you back. Great for those seeking direction in their career paths.
Session 2: Target the Career You Want – To get the careers we want, we have to know what we’re seeking. By creating a Purpose Board, we have a constant visual reminder to help us stay on target. This tool shows us where we want to go, what steps need to be taken to get there, and what the end result looks like. Participants in this workshop will create their own purpose boards and learn strategies for making one work for them.
Session 3: Define Your Mission – Personal mission statements are a declaration of who you are and who you want to become. They provide focus and a gauge by which you can measure your actions. Participants will learn about the power of mission statements and gain the tools to develop their own.
Session 4: Creating and Working Your Plan – There is a Japanese proverb that says, “Vision without action is a daydream. Action without vision is a nightmare.” Now that you know what you want, you need a plan to make it happen. This session will focus on writing your plan, learning implementation strategies, and using your strengths to make your vision a reality.
Who Should Attend: Designed for people seeking a career and students choosing a college major.
